Our Recipe

Preparation Time: 30 minutes (plus additional time for sauce preparation if making from scratch)

Cooking Time: 45 minutes to 1 hour

Serving Size: Serves 8-10

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) lasagna noodles
  • 1 batch of meat sauce or marinara sauce (about 4 cups)
  • 1 batch of béchamel sauce (about 2 cups)
  • 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the Lasagna Noodles:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse the noodles under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.

  3. Prepare the Sauces:
    • Prepare a batch of meat sauce or marinara sauce and béchamel sauce according to your preferred recipes. Alternatively, you can use store-bought sauces for convenience.

  4. Assemble the Lasagna:
    • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce or marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Arrange a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping them to cover the bottom of the dish.
    • Spread a layer of béchamel sauce over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
    • Repeat the layering process, alternating between noodles, meat sauce, béchamel sauce, and cheese, until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of sauce and cheese on top.

  5. Bake the Lasagna:
    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.

  6. Serve:
    • Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, and serve hot.
